Yes, the homework is a little challenging but the teachers could careless on encouraging the youth. My child was misplaced on a field trip. My child homeroom teacher post photos of herself on the DOJO app that is supposed to be used for communication with the parents concerning their children.
The child only has 1 extra curricular activity once a week which is art. They have a playground which the children are not allowed to play on.
My child 1st day of school she informed me she played with sticks on their empty field as they had no outside equipment. Whenever the children raise their hand to ask a question the teachers tell them they are not taking questions.
They give a ton of homework with barely anytime to complete it or enough time to comprehend what they are doing. The classrooms are so cold I have to dress my child in multiple layers for class. Removing my child as soon as I can find another school. Parent Review 3y ago. Nichols Elementary-Middle School. Nichols is a great school. I have had experiences with many of the teachers in the school, and they all care about the students.
One teacher called it her "ministry". The principal is community driven and often goes door-to-door to encourage parents to get involved with their student's education. An even stronger parent presence is what this school needs to be a shining star within DPS. Good school. There are so many student organizations, committees etc.
Plan on volunteering, chaperoning, etc. Edward 'Duke' Ellington Beckham. Parent Review 2y ago. I have ALOT of things to say about this school. I have spoke to my daughters about it and got their opinions and I will also share mine. First of all, this school has an asesome principal.
But she doesn't seem to listen to her students or teachers very often, it's mostly the vice rincipal doing all the work. Secondly, some of the students have brillent ideas that no one seems to appreciate. I've noticed this school is made out of African Americans and Muslims and the Muslim girls arn't participating in most of the things going on at school. I would love to listen to their ideas and see how much the school can change. This school needs to get in shape in order for the teachers to teach and the students to learn.
Get this school re-painted over the summer when I went to the parent-teacher conference I found gum on the railing of the stairs! The lighting is so dull that when I step in the building I feel as if I walked in jail! Also everything is always unorganized. EX: Multicultural Day The lockers are dirty, and the teachers are lazy. If I could become the principal, this school would've been in shape in one week!
