So I've got a system with a NF2U board without a floppy drive and I want to install XP or without going through the trouble of installing a floppy. I remember awhile ago someone posted a link that showed you how to add drivers to a bootable Windows CD disk image especially for this purpose.
Any ideas? Need4Speed Diamond Member. Dec 27, 5, 0 0. SIF - we're done with this file. INF files for each of your devices. I don't think it can be stressed enough that imaging onto new hardware is unsupported and likely to cause issues. I have a really narrow window for this upgrade. That's why I kept the old server in totally working condition, just shut down for the moment.
I think you're right that a true migration is the best way but my bosses don't want the server name to change so I'd have to do a swing migration and I don't have time for a double migration at this point. I'll see how an in-place upgrade to SBS goes and maybe later I can get newer hardware and try a swing migration to the next time both my bosses are out of town.
Thanks for pointing out that migrations are better. I up-voted you for that. I found it. All it takes is adding a registry key. If you've already had and clearly realize tht this isn't the best way to go why would you upgrade- even if it works? I need to move the install to other hardware because the hardware it's on doesn't belong to us. We had a hardware failure a couple years ago and in the interest of getting the server back up and running quickly we ended up using some spare hardware one of the employees owned.
That gave us time to RMA the original gear and get it replaced. That employee left the company more than a year ago and I'd really like to give him his system back. Replies 6. Support CD: If you do not have access to the Internet, then start by browsing the support CD included with the motherboard.
Let Windows run through all of its setup routines and updates. I just tried your instructions and I could not get it to work. I work for a community college and we like to configure one machine and ghost the image to the others.
Also we save our syspreped image to a server for quick recovery if need be. We have a volume license for our version of windows xp so we like to strip off whatever comes with the computer and we install all of our licensed software on our new computers. I am trying to in a sense boot off of the windows xp cd to install a fresh copy to one of the new computers to image to the others. I install the sata raid driver per your instructions and it acts like it is going to work but then i get the blue screen of death every time.
I imagine that the process is about the same for win2k but I am using windows xp service pack 1. I would appreciate any help on this. I bought this machine had to run it on windows pro due to company requirement. I wasn't able to run the setup no matter what I tried. What I found out is that the R All you have to do is get that file of the CD that came with your system or dells website.
We'll think about the other drivers after the system has been installed but from my experience I can say there might be a problem with the Atheros WiFi. The rest should work fine. Okay, I'll try this out tonight! I'll post back when I have results! Thanks for your help!
It's may be different problem but just in case you may try to slipstream the original XP drivers. In order to do so you should start with a clean source again, i. It took almost an hour to copy the files before. It's a cheap stick I got from ebay, so yeah, thought as much, I do remember when using WinToFlash to copy XP onto the stick there was an option to format it as FAT16 LBA and that made it much faster, is there any way of doing that here?
